I’ve stayed at dozens of hostels over the years, and this is the single best one I have stayed at. Location: Downtown, 10/10. It’s on the top of the building with a beautiful view of the city. Only a few minutes walk from the Nile and the Egyptian museum. Don’t let the dilapidated entrance and stairwell give you the wrong impression Cleanliness: 10/10. Experienced hostel travelers know that fewer bathrooms cleaned multiple times a day by professional cleaners yields the best product, and that was the case here. The room was excellent with clean sheets, blankets, and a trash can. Buy mosquito spray because this is Egypt and they’ll be flying around due to the windows not having door sweeps. Breakfast: 10/10. Local food that is cooked for you after you pay for a cheap voucher. You have three options! This is the first time I ate every day at the hostel’s breakfast option. Staff: 11/10. Fadi, Dida, Chiara, H and Ahmed are incredible people. Not only did they smoothly assist booking taxis for every transit I needed, but they additionally were a delight to talk to and gave amazing recommendations for local restaurants. The staff helped me stay an extra night after my flight was canceled after normal working hours and customized a tour for me based on my tight schedule! Each of them is professional, upbeat, hardworking, and fun to be around. Vibe: 10/10. There’s music, a relaxed environment, and plenty of spaces so you can socialize with other youth from around the world or take a moment to watch the sunset and work by the many outlets. There are two cute cats. 🐈 🐈‍⬛ It didn’t have grumpy long-term stays who were treating the hostel as an apartment nor skewed towards a particular country/language group. This is the oldest hostel in downtown Cairo and if/when I come back to the city I absolutely will stay here again.

There was so much to like about Dahab Hostel, especially the staff! The boys at the front desk were absolutely amazing. They pretty much planned our whole stay (5 nights) and organised every tour for us at a very cost friendly price. Definitely cheaper than any third party tour sites. Compared the prices with another person staying at the hostel who booked through a third party and the hostel prices were ridiculously cheaper for a better service! We did the pyramids tour, city tour and a camp in the bahariya oasis which I highly recommend! The place itself is a cool hostel situated on a rooftop which is unique and the cats are so friendly and amazing. Super cheap and tasty breakfast available too, homemade by the beautiful ladies on site. Facilities were great, bathrooms were brilliant too. Definitely recommend!! Couldn't think of a better place to stay when in Cairo.

Staff were lovely and friendly and helped with printing off my boarding pass as well as lots of other questions I had. Location is very good and near the museum, Tahir Square and the Go Bus terminal. Shared bathrooms were clean and the laundry service was very good. The breakfast was a bargain for $1 and really good. Its on the rooftop of the building so has a lovely terrace to chill out on which helps you feel like you're not in the chaos of Cairo. Pretty social hostel so great for solo travellers.

Maria

Excellent staff at the front desk, very friendly and helpful. The cleaning is done daily by the housekeeping team, ensuring the place is always tidy. The bathrooms are relatively new and well-maintained. The location is outstanding, right in the heart of Downtown and close to the old museum. Restaurants are just 400 meters away. If you prefer not to walk, I recommend using Uber or Bolt, which are very affordable and safe options

Nicola

We stayed there one and a half night in Cairo (had to leave for a night bus in the middle of the second night), and honestly that was a great choice to have a place to rest a little for the city ! The location is really convenient (a few minutes walk from Tahrir square and Cairo's museum, among other things), the staff friendly, and the whole place being a rooftop far above the city makes it both charming and relaxing
